POSITION TITLE:         Coordinator – Social Listening & Community Management

REPORTS TO:             Manager – Social, Culture & Brand Engagement

 

OVERVIEW:

American Eagle Outfitters Inc. is seeking a Gen-Z-obsessed strategist and creative individual to join our award-winning social media team. This is an exciting, newly created role for a culturally obsessed individual who loves the idea of engaging with our social communities on a daily basis.  

Our Coordinator of Social Listening & Community Management will be responsible for keeping an active pulse on identifying and monitoring cultural trends across all social media platforms to influence responsive content creation for American Eagle.

They should have a strong background in copywriting as they will own our voice in comment sections and contribute to overall copy for IG and TikTok posts & content. Interacting and engaging with our community on social media will be a major priority and is critical to success for this role. They will be responsible for generating frequent reports and insights regarding Gen-Z and our customers that are used to help influence creative decisions and provide insights to senior leadership teams on trending topics.

This position is in NYC but can begin as remote to candidates in the US who live in EST or CST time zones. Candidates who apply that live outside of the Greater NYC area will eventually be required to relocate at their own expense with an adequate notice provided to them. 

As with most social media jobs, this position requires some weekend work to post, monitor and manage communities.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide consistent monitoring, reporting and flagging of comments, mentions, tags, and conversations around American Eagle and our organic and paid media posts.
  • Engage (like, comment, reply to) with our fans / followers who generate UGC on a consistent basis.
  • Execute on ideas and programs created to further create fan love within our social communities.
  • Turn AE into a brand that is loved by its community and that is known for it.
  • Contribute to weekly brainstorm and creative concepting meetings with ideas for how to improve and optimize creative to be more engaging and purposeful for our communities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year university is preferred.
  • At least 1 year post college experience in a professional role at an agency or brand strongly preferred.
  • You have an active social presence across multiple social channels and a personality to match it.
  • You think like Gen-Z and know how to speak to them.
  • A to-be-confirmed ability to write and draft copy for social media.
  • The ability to create content, natively, within TikTok, Reels and other video platforms.
  • Professional experience in powerpoint, excel, google slides, google docs strongly preferred.
  • A positive, excited and enthusiastic attitude about your work and the work of others around you.
