BE PART OF SOMETHING REAL |
As AEO’s business model evolves, supply chain becomes a key enabler to the business. As supply chain costs continue to rise and customer expectations get tighter, defining and developing a forward looking strategy is critical. Our current operating model was originally built on the premise that stores are the singular delivery point and floorsets (assortment changes on the store floor) are the ultimate starting point of the season. Those assumptions are not sufficient in the world where more and more customers are shopping online. As part of our evolving strategy, we need to make step jumps in processes, technology and people responsibilities where we make decisions to flow closer to actual time of need, move in the right unit of measure, increase automation in the DCs, and deliver to the customers from regional nodes balancing cost and speed. Supply chain is moving from a back office function to customer facing capability. Being smarter in how we are buying and flowing product will allow us to better capture margin and operational savings. We need to understand our capabilities, external advances and the way to best bridge the gap in the areas of flow optimization, DC fulfillment/automation and inventory modernization. You will be figuring out how to evolve AEOs supply chain technology and processes as a competitive advantage for the company using data driven approaches.
