As the Senior Manager of Inbound Flow Operations at AEO, Inc., you will be responsible for managing the domestic inbound transportation of all of AEO’s goods, to include drayage, transload/deconsolidation, and linehaul/trucking.  You will work collaboratively to ensure the timely, dependable delivery of freight while minimizing costs where possible. This position will develop and manage all KPIs and metrics to evaluate inbound domestic logistics vendor and carrier performance. This role will implement best practices and standards to ensure timely drayage, transload, and linehaul services for AEO’s air and ocean shipments.

Your responsibilities include:

  • In partnership with the Director of Inbound Operations and the broader Supply Chain Leadership Team, developing and managing domestic inbound logistics, to include drayage, transload, and linehaul/trucking services. 

  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and improving the consolidation and deconsolidation strategy for inbound operations.

  • Understanding and improving data flows to ensure visibility for all units.

  • Developing data flows and operational processes for new partners, and working with internal and external stakeholders to successfully and seamlessly add capacity to our network

  • Managing deconsolidation/transload operations for all inbound AEO shipments to ensure smooth and dependable flow of goods, for both ocean and air shipments. 

  • Leading and representing the team in initiatives that further our supply chain strategy, specifically: network optimization, new capabilities, operational excellence, metric/KPI utilization, team development, and others

  • Partnering with the Manager of Global Inbound Operations & Inbound Planning team to execute strategies for drayage, transload, and domestic inbound transportation to reduce lead time and cost.

  • Proactively engaging with internal teams and external partners to develop load prioritization, shipment planning, and capacity planning to ensure timely movement of freight.

  • Managing carrier and service level mix that drives cost savings and efficiencies, while meeting SLA commitments  

  • Managing drayage/transload/linehaul contractual service agreements, and ensuring adherence to those agreements.

  • Establish and develop relationships with third party logistics providers that prioritize service and longevity, while minimizing costs.

  • Working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient flow of goods and data.  

  • Hiring, developing, and leading a team of direct reports, and providing knowledge and influence to members of the business who may or may not report directly to you.

  • Fostering collaborative relationships across the Supply Chain, and serving as a role model leader for the organization.  

  • Evaluating logistics flows, processes, and systems to identify improvement opportunities, then developing and implementing solutions

  • Developing and improving processes related to billing and payment of existing and future partners.

  • Must be available to travel up to 50% of the time

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, supply chain management, or related field; or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum 5 years professional experience in logistics management or relevant technical / business skills

  • 5+ years management experience

  • Experience with industry-standard drayage/transload software packages

  • Experience/understanding of EDI and other data interchange formats. 

  • Apparel/footwear industry experience desired

  • Broad understanding of third party logistics operations, supply chain processes, and best practices.

  • Experience managing domestic drayage, transload, over the road trucking and rail services. 

  • Bias for action.  Ability to identify potential issues and solve them before they become larger issues.

  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Proactive and assertive in communication and follow-through with colleagues and business partners

  • Professionalism/Interpersonal skills – clear and concise business communication.  Able to create and maintain individual relationships, and gain buy-in/consensus.  

  • Ability to travel
